  I spend lots of time in remote field locations (Africa, tropical Central & South America) where there are no electrical utilities and must pack in a portable power source to run my CPAP machine (I have obstructive sleep apnea). This Xantrex unit has enough storage to run my machine for two 8hr nights (for longer trips I have to pack in an auto-type 12V battery; ugh - very heavy!). At 17 lbs. the Xantrex also adds appreciably to the weight of my pack, but is at least manageable. The unit recharges quickly (3 to 4 hrs) with the 12V utility (cigarette lighter) outlet of running vehicles or generators, but is VERY slow to recharge with 110V AC (36-48 hrs). Because its leak-proof AGM battery is exempt from national and international transport regulations, I've had no hassles taking it on either domestic or international flights (I take a lot of relevant documentation to show to airport baggage checkers).
